The novel catching fire is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen. Kat. has just won the 74th annual hunger games, and plans to fill the rest of her days living in the life of luxury. She has rebelled against the capital by keeping her teammate Peeta Mellark alive. But in return it also changed the minds of many of the districts, which began to rebel. Which upsets the capital greatly, and forces president Snow to take a personal attack against her. The quarter quell is coming up where they spice up the hunger games a little more every 25 years, to remind the people that no one is able to defy the capital and get away with it. This year the message was that no matter who you are you were not safe. Which is exactly what happened, when they announced that this year the players of the game would be drawn from previous winners.1 girl and 1 boy, from each district would fight for their lives again.
When Katniss had heard this announcement she had jus finished trying on her wedding dresses, that the capital ordered for her after her fiasco from the pervious year. Which is when Peeta and her played this magical romance, to win over the audience. But when the capital found out about her true love being gale they made her enforce the lie she had laid upon the capital the prior year.
When Katniss and Peeta heard they both knew that they would be chosen in the games this year. So they both arranged with the other manager, Haymitch that they would try to keep the other alive. For Peeta out of love, and for Katniss because she knew that the capital wouldn’t end until they had her killed.
The plan for the games was that they would make alliances, but Kat. was never a very social person, so she and Peeta arranged not to. Once the games began they soon figured out that Haymitch had made arrangements for them to have alliances with several over members of the game. Throughout the game many people die and Kat. isn’t sure whether to trust the people that she is supposed to have an alliance with or not. In the end during one of the allies, Beetee, plans something goes wrong and the group is separated. The force field around the arena is shut down and all the remaining players were taken into custody.
